Sarasota is a city in Sarasota County in the central west coast of Florida, USA. From the official boundaries of the area include Sarasota Bay and several barrier islands between the bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
Sarasota is famous for its beaches and islands, known as keys, and include Siesta Key, Lido Key, and Sarasota and noted worldwide for the quality of its beaches. The cost of living is linked to 109% compared with the national average of 100% and 105% for the rest of the state of Florida. In the area of unemployment, Sarasota only recorded an unemployment rate of 3% compared with 4% for the U.S. inland.
Sarasota Crime-Prevention Program A Success Story
A unique program, the pilot of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) program, of course, turned around a Sarasota, Fla., neighborhood, where 68 per cent of companies have been victims of crime.
According to officials from Sarasota, crime has dropped by 40 percent between 1996 and 1990 when the program began. Crime rates across the city dropped only 9 percent during the same period. Building permits, rental rates and property values also increased during that time. Sarasota only crime, experience shows that prevention methods of crime prevention design can achieve optimal results in minimal program costs.
